FLORAL DREAMS

You may have noticed our brand new backdrop popping up in some of our sneak peeks lately, or in our studio window and wondered where did it come from or did I make it?

So here is the (rather long) creation story of our vintage dusky flower wall... - I was inspired after seeing other amazing images from international fashion photographers 😃
- I found what I was looking for on AliExpress
- I thought I had ordered white, that I could tea stain to make it look vintage cream (well that was the plan...)
- What turned up was closer to a fluro candy floss pink 🙄
- Note to self late night shopping via cell phone may not end as expected
- I researched over dying, painting and any other way to change the colour of faux flowers to find a solution
- Two trips to Spotlight later for Rit Dye 'dye more' in green, chocolate and graphite
- I individually removed each of the 900+ flower heads, dipped them through three dye baths, TWICE (as I often craft with a make-it-up-as-you-go mentality and first attempted didn't go as planned either 😅 ) - They were dried on the lawn (and yes I had to chase after them when the wind blew them away 🤣)
- Reattached all the many flower heads to the backing grid - Now I can't stop staring at it, totally in love with the look and the secret garden feeling it has.

What are your craft escapades that have gone completely off plan and yet turned out even better than expected?
Tell me about your creations...
