Emma

You might recognise the fabulous Emma from the cover of our 12 Women Project, and this lovely lady is back for a second session with us. In honour of her 50th trip around the sun, she has committed to herself to live presently, accept herself and those she loves fully, and do 50 small luxuries over the next year.

Having photographed Emma before, I was really interested to see what this session would bring. She is still the same laid back, down to earth Emma, but there is something different about her this time. She feels more comfortable in herself. More relaxed. Softer with herself.

And that came through in the photographs. This session was less about posing and more about letting things unfold. Movement, expressions, those little in between moments and the personality that comes through when you stop trying to present as perfectly masked. What I loved most was creating something that felt like an intimate portrait of her spirit. Not just what she looks like at 50, but who she is at 50.

Emma, thank you for trusting me with your story again. It is always such a joy photographing you. And I absolutely love that this isn't the end of your 50 small things. It is just the beginning, happy birthday.
